The Bawkhaus pet has quickly become one of the strangest and most talked-about cosmetics in Diablo 4. It's hard not to notice it: a slightly cursed-looking chicken waddling behind your character with a tiny haunted house strapped to its back. The design alone makes it stand out from the usual grim companions roaming Sanctuary, and it's part of a fun crossover tied to the launch of World of Warcraft: Midnight Diablo 4 Items.

Getting the Bawkhaus is actually pretty simple, even if you normally only play Diablo. The pet is unlocked through an early achievement in the new WoW expansion. All you need to do is log into World of Warcraft using the same Battle.net account you use for Diablo 4. Once you're in the Midnight expansion, follow the opening story quests in the new zones. After progressing through the main introduction for a while, you'll eventually earn the "Echoes of Midnight" achievement. Beyond the humor, the pet is also useful during gameplay. Like other pets introduced in recent seasons of Diablo 4, Bawkhaus automatically collects nearby loot for you. It grabs gold, crafting materials, herbs, gem fragments, and other small drops that would normally require constant clicking. When you're clearing dungeons, farming Helltides, or running high-tier Pit content, that small convenience makes grinding a lot smoother.

The animations are part of the charm. The chicken waddles along behind you while the little house bounces slightly on its back. When loot drops, it runs over and pecks around the pile as if it's searching for food. It's a funny contrast to the dark atmosphere of Sanctuary, which is probably why so many players like it. Even in the middle of a chaotic boss fight, you might notice the chicken busily scooping up gold in the background.

Equipping it is straightforward once it's unlocked. Just visit a wardrobe in one of the major hubs, like Kyovashad or Cerrigar, open the cosmetics menu, and go to the Pets tab. Select Bawkhaus and it will immediately start following your character. There are no level requirements or extra quests once the achievement is done.

If you interact with the pet using the "hello" emote, it even has a few small idle reactions. The chicken might flap its wings or shuffle around while the house glows faintly, which adds a little personality to the cosmetic. It's a small detail, but it helps the pet feel more alive compared to some of the simpler companions in the game.

For players who aren't sure if it's worth installing World of Warcraft just for a cosmetic, the time commitment is pretty small. The intro quests in Midnight are mostly focused on story and exploration rather than long combat grinds, so progressing to the achievement is fairly quick.
